Read on for details of who is doing what and wish them luck as do all EDOWSC members in the last phases of their training and their crossing attempts. Better still, dig deep and donate to the worthwhile Charities they are supporting!


Time Trial 17 May 2016

Congratulations to all 21 who took part in the first one this season. Proving distance was no object in the 2km event were Emily Clarke and Matt Smith (NW), Joanne Child and Andrew Gill (W). Rocking the 1km course: Di Keen and Paul Wishman (W). Results follow.

The next time trial will be on 21 June.

Entries are now closed for the 2km and 3.8km swims on Sunday 3 July 2016 from Knoll Beach, Studland. Accepted entries are shown below.

We sent confirmation of entry emails to everyone who submitted a complete application and paid the corresponding fee.

Any applicant (online or postal) in receipt of an acknowledgement email from us who has not received confirmation of entry had 7 days in which to send the required payment to complete the entry. Anyone who has sent in or made payment without submitting a corresponding application had 7 days to submit the entry form.


Season’s Greetings!

News of our first club session on Tuesday 19 April 2016 (6pm for a 6.30pm start) and a new celebrity member. In the recent storm the roof got blown off Shore Road changing rooms. It sounds like it will take a few weeks to fix. In the meantime we are planning to just meet at Shore Road anyway at the usual time.


ASA Level 2 Award for Coaching Open Water Swimming 2016

The ASA Level 2 Award in Coaching Open Water Swimming (QCF) qualification is aimed at ASA Level 2 Swimming Coaches or First4Sport Level 2 Triathlon Coaches who want to acquire specialist knowledge delivering open water swimming sessions to a range of participants.

Seahorse Swim 2016 prize sponsor Kitbrix were delighted when athlete Ness Knight agreed to become their lead ambassador for the KitBrix Experience project. Ness is the first female to swim the length of the Thames and has completed the longest stand-up paddle journey by a female in history.


British Triathlon and RLSS UK set to grow safe open water swimming

Open water swimming is set to grow as British Triathlon and the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) have confirmed a new partnership to support the promotion and development of the sport.

The three-year partnership recognises the potential growth of open water swimming and the need to develop the sport’s existing infrastructure to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for new and existing participants.

Swim Stroke Masterclass with Ocean Walker

On 13 Feb 2016, world renowned ‪#‎openwater‬ swimmer Adam Walker is running a Swim Stroke Masterclass camp at Canford Sports Centre, Dorset for a maximum of 10 people.

Ocean Walker Adam is the first British person to complete the hardest seven ocean swims in the World. Adam will give live demos of his stroke and explain the benefits of his swimming style.
