EDOWSC Pre-Season Social, AGM and Skittles Evening 28 Mar 2017

Following the postponement of the Club AGM on 5 Feb we are proposing to hold a pre-season social event on Tuesday 28 March at 7pm at the Coach & Horses, Wimborne which will include the AGM, a short briefing on ideas and events for the new swimming season, followed by a game of skittles to round off the evening.


New partnership to SH2OUT about safe open water swimming

The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) and British Triathlon have launched a new strategy on 25 Jan 2017 to help drive the development of open water swimming.

Supported by the ASA, the strategy will set standards and grow safe open water swimming.


Keri-anne Payne announces retirement

Keri-anne Payne has called time on her illustrious swimming career that has spanned more than 12 years.

Her many accolades include a 10km Marathon Swimming silver medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and she was twice FINA 10km Marathon Swimming World Champion in 2011 and 2013.

Payne will now turn her focus to her new business venture Triscape, started with husband and former Olympic swimmer David Carry, promoting healthy and active lifestyles for all.


Seahorse Swim 2017 Entries

Entries to the Seahorse Swim will open on 13 February 2017 at 10am! Please put it in your diary and go to the registration page at the link below to make sure you don’t miss out.

We’re making some improvements to the swim this year by teaming up with Race Timing Solutions and Lapio to provide chip timing with live results. This year, finishers will also receive a bespoke commemorative medal and the chance to win a raffle prize.


New FINA wetsuit specification

Update 30 Jan 2017: Unfortunately we have to postpone the AGM due to insufficient numbers for the orginal booking. We will update members shortly on an alternative venue but the provisional date will be 28 Mar 2017. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

We encourage as many of you as possible to come along and celebrate the successes of last year and share your feedback. And we are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers with ideas which could move the club forward. Any contribution is always welcome so please don’t hold back if your time is limited and you fancy making a difference.

The 8th East Dorset Open Water SC Seahorse Swim will take place on 2 July 2017 near Knoll Beach, Studland by kind permission of the National Trust and in support of the Seahorse Trust. A new Facebook Group has launched for the Seahorse Swim. Please join, like and share the group to keep up with latest information on the event. ASA L2 Award for Coaching Open Water Swimming Courses

The ASA Level 2 Award in Coaching Open Water Swimming (QCF) qualification is aimed at Level 2 Swimming or Triathlon Coaches who want to acquire specialist knowledge delivering open water swimming sessions to a range of participants.
